Ngo, Huu Hao (Hao) is currently a Distinguished Professor of Environmental Engineering and being Deputy Director, Centre for Technology in Water and Wastewater, and Co-Director, Joint Research Centre for Environmental Green Bioprocess, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, FEIT, University of Technology Sydney. He has been elected as President, International Bioprocessing Association, Distinguished Fellow of International Bioprocessing Association, and Fellow of International Water Association. He is also the Founder and Executive Coordinator of the new established Australasia Practical Net Zero Emissions Society. Hao’s expertise and practical experience include advanced biological waste/wastewater treatment processes, circular economy based clean technologies, resource recovery, bioenergy, minimization of wastes and net zero emissions, membrane technologies, alternative water resources, and environmental impacts assessment.
Hao has been named as Highly Cited Researcher (Clarivate Analytics, Web of Science) in 2 categories (Environment and Ecology; Biology and Biochemistry), in 2022 and 2021, in Category of Biology and Chemistry in 2020and in Category of Cross Field in 2019; Highly Cited Researcher – Stanford University; Mendeley Data Top world 100,000 Cited Researchers in 2020 while being ranked #3, #3 and #8 worldwide in Waste Management and Disposal, Environmental Engineering, and Bioengineering, respectively (SciVal, 2017 to 2022, Scholar Output). In Australia, Hao ranked #1 in 3 areas: (1) Environmental Engineering, (2) Bioengineering, and (3) Waste Management and Disposal; ranked #2 in Renewable Energy, Sustainability and the Environment; and ranked #5 in Pollution (SciVal, 2017 to 2022 Scholar Output). Additionally, according to research ranking of the AUSTRALIAN, Hao has been named as Leader in Environmental Science and Leader in Biotechnology (2021), Leader in Environmental Science (2020), and Leader in Biotechnology (2019) in Australia. Hao currently published more than 700 publications including 16 books and 46 books chapters (citation number > 42,000, h-index = 100, Google April 2023).
He has been invited for giving numerous plenary/keynote talks, seminars and lectures in numerous international conferences as well as the universities/research institutions. He has also been Honorary International Guest/ Chair professor, Visiting Research Fellow in France, China, India, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam etc. while being Conference Chair, Section Chair, and Advisory/Organizing/Scientific committee member in several international conferences.

Dr. Wenshan Guo is a Professor in School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Technology Sydney. Her current research focuses on innovative wastewater treatment and reuse technologies, green technologies for resource and energy recovery, water-waste-energy nexus, and climate change mitigation. She has served as a College of Expert, Australian Research Council since 2022. She is an Editor, Bioresource Technology Report (Elsevier), Section Editor, Journal of Water Process Engineering (Elsevier), Associate Editor, Journal of Hazardous, Toxic & Radioactive Waste (ASCE), and Academic Editor, Journal of Chemistry (Hindawi, USA).
She has been recognized as 2021 & 2022 Highly Cited Researcher in both Biology and Biochemistry Category and Environment and Ecology Category, as well as 2019 & 2020 Highly Cited Researcher in Cross Field Category by Clarivate Analytics, Web of Science Group and as a Stanford Highly Cited Researcher. She has also been named as one of the Top 40 Research Superstars in Australia (2020 and 2021, Environmental Science). She is a winner of the Scopus Excellence in Women in Research Award in 2022 and Sydney winner of Professional Engineer of the Year 2021. Professor Bing-Jie Ni is an ARC Future Fellow and full professor at University of New South Wales. He has been working in the field of environmental technology and water management, focusing on the integration of these disciplines to develop innovative and sustainable technological solutions to achieve high-levels of pollutant removal with minimised carbon emissions. He has published 2 research books, 30 book chapters, and more than 420 papers in SCI journals, including over 110 papers in Nature index journals. He has won six major ARC grants and over 20 other Government, University and Industry research grants with a total research funding of AUD $10 M.
He serves as Editor, Guest Editor or Editor Board for top journals such as Water Research, Environmental Science and Technology, and Journal of Cleaner Production. He has delivered over 20 keynote speeches at national and international conferences. He is the inventor of over 10 granted patents. He is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher and a Stanford Highly Cited Researcher. He has received more than 50 awards & prizes. He has been recognized by Engineers Australia as one of Australia’s most innovative engineers primarily for his work on greenhouse gas neutral water management.

Dr Qiang Fu received his B.E. in Chemical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) in 2004. He completed his Ph.D in Polymer Chemistry at Fudan University (China) in 2009 before working as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Melbourne. Dr Fu was the recipients of an ARC Super Science Fellowship (2011-2014), an ATSE Emerging Future Leader Fellowship (2012) and an ARC Future Fellowship (2018-2022). He is currently leading a research group in The Centre for Technology in Water and Wastewater (CTWW) at The University of Technology Sydney, focusing on the development of functional polymer materials, two-dimensional materials, metal-organic frameworks, and advanced membrane materials for energy and environmental applications.

Dr Wei Wei is an Australian Research Council (ARC) DECRA Fellow and Lecturer at School of Civil and Environmental Engineering of UTS. She obtained her PhD degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT, China) in 2018. Wei Wei has been working in the field of environmental biotechnology, wastewater/sludge treatment and environmental toxicology, particularly the interface among process engineering, microbiology, ecotoxicology and mathematical modelling. Her research focuses on the development and application of innovative and sustainable techniques to achieve sewage sludge reduction, to transform waste from a troublesome pollutant to a valuable resource with maximized energy recovery, to mitigate the adverse influences of emerging contaminants (e.g., micro/nano-plastics) on energy recovery in wastewater/sludge treatment systems. Specifically, she is a worldwide pioneer in revolutionizing the science and practice of urban wastewater/sludge management. As an early career researcher, Wei Wei has secured a total research income of more than $1.4M, and published 3 book chapters, 8 patents, and more than 160 fully refereed SCI journal papers with citations ~4500 and h-index = 37 (Scopus, 12/2022). She serves as Early Career Editorial Advisory Board Member for 8 SCI journals.

Ms. Tram received her bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam) and an MA in Planning Policy and Practice from London South Bank University (UK). Her research interest focuses on sustainability science, urban greenery planning and management, and environmental planning and assessment.
Currently, Ms. Tram is pursuing her PhD at the University of Technology, Sydney, where she is expanding her knowledge and skills to make a positive impact in the field of sustainability.
