Dr Huiying Zhang (Huiying) is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Life Sciences, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, China. She received a PhD in Botany from the School of Life Sciences of Chongqing University in 2013 and was a postdoctoral Fellow in Environmental Science and Engineering at Tsinghua University in 2015.
Huiying is an expert in green technologies for waste/wastewater treatment and reuse, bioenergy, circular economy, synthetic biology, and molecular biology. Huiying has presided over 12 scientific research projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Science Fund Project, China Postdoctoral Science Fund project, the Provincial Science and Technology Department project, the University Jieqing Project, and conducted more than 3 industrial collaborative projects.
She has published more than 20 SCI papers in the Chemical Engineering Journal, Science of the Total Environment, Algal Research, etc, as the corresponding author or the first author and authorised 5 books and 4 patents. In the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition, she won 3 gold awards, silver awards, Best Hardware awards, Best Environmental Bioremediation awards, and Best Sustainable Development award nominations. Besides, silver awards in the first "Creation Youth" China Youth Carbon Neutral Innovation.
Dr. Carol Lin received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Materials Engineering with 1st class honours from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She was awarded with PhD in 2008 in the research field of Biochemical Engineering at the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science at the University of Manchester, England. After one year as a postdoctoral researcher in the research group of Professor Wim Soetaert at the Centre of Expertise – Industrial Biotechnology and Biocatalysis at the Ghent University in Belgium, she returned to Hong Kong and joined the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as a Visiting Assistant Professor. In 2011, she began her academic career in School of Energy and Environment at City University of Hong Kong, and she was promoted to Associate Professor in 2017.
Dr. Lin’s research group focuses on technological advancement and development of circular waste-based biorefinery for sustainable production of chemicals, materials and fuels, that contributes to reduction of environmental burden of waste disposal and enhancement of resource efficiency. Focusing on these topics, she has secured more than HK$26 million research funding from various sources including the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Research Grant Council (RGC). She has been involved in over 20 research projects as Principal Investigator, which mainly focus on development of integrated biorefinery strategies includes valorization of agricultural residues, food, beverage, plastic and textile wastes.
Dr. Kazuya SHIMIZU is a Professor in Faculty of Life Sciences, Toyo University located in Japan. He graduated from University of Tsukuba for Ph.D. in 2009. He has research the mechanism and application of microbes’ function and symbioses for water and wastewater treatment including biogas production focusing on "zero emission" based on the consideration that "biological system implementing in the life-support systems in the space industry leading to the development of the space industry could be a clue to solving issues such as food, population and energy problems". He has used both molecular biological technique and microbiological technique to achieve his research.
He is a powerful force in the research and uses his positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage to work hard and succeed. He has published over 130 papers in peer-reviewed SCI Journals.

Dr. Youngjune Park is a full professor in the School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Engineering at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), South Korea. Prior to joining GIST, he worked at Columbia University in the city of New York as a post-doctoral research scientist on the development of organic-inorganic hybrid solvents for CO2 capture, as well as biomass conversion into H2. He received a B.S. degree from Sogang University in 2004, and an M.S. degree from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2005. He received a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from KAIST in 2009. From 2012 to 2015 he worked at SK innovation Co., Ltd. as a senior researcher.
His research focuses on CO2capture, storage, and utilization (CCUS) technologies including direct air capture (DAC), carbon mineralization integrated with resource-energy nexus, energy storage materials and processes for H2 and unconventional fuels, and clathrate hydrates for energy and environmental applications.
Experienced Associate Professor with a demonstrated history of working in the research and education industry and currently the Director of Centre for Research and Graduate Studies in University of Cyberjaya, Malaysia. Track records of research publications in the field of Bioprocess Engineering, Bio-refinery and Bioseparations, Biochemistry, Food Processing, Fermentation and Natural Products Recovery with 90% of WOS Q1/Q2 journals, Scopus h-index of 19, and Google Scholar h-index of 21.
Her research interests are mainly on fermentation and biorefinery, bioprocess engineering and natural products processing, Assoc. Prof. Dr Grrace Ng was awarded by The Society of Biotechnology, Japan for the DaSilva Award 2021 which recognizes the outstanding achievement of young Asian researcher in the field of Microbial Biotechnology. She has close collaboration with institutions from Taiwan, Germany, China, and Japan and appointed as Visiting Scholar and Visiting Professor in multiple institutions. Su Shiung Lam is a tenured Professor at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), currently the Director of International Centre, and a Core Member of Institute of Tropical Aquaculture and Fisheries (AKUATROP), accredited as the Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE) for Future Food: Sustainable Shellfish Aquaculture by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.

Professor Dr.Chavalit Ratanatamskul is currently a full Professor at Department of Environmental Engineering and Director of Research Unit on Innovative Waste Treatment and Water Reuse, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. He was elected as an Executive Committee of Engineering Institute of Thailand under the King’s patronage (EIT) (2020- present, 2011-2016). Moreover, he was the former Chairman of Environmental Engineering (2011-2013) and Chairman of Project Committee (2014-2016), Engineering Institute of Thailand (EIT) under the King’s Patronage.
He received Ph.D. and Master's degree of Engineering in environmental engineering from University of Tokyo, Japan in 1996 and 1993 (Japanese Government Scholarship), and B.Eng. degree in environmental engineering from Chulalongkorn University in 1991. He also served as a Senior Expert Committee for many governmental agencies such as Chairman of Water Pollution Source’s Effluent Standard Setting Committee, Pollution Control Committee, EIA Senior Expert Committee, National Expert on Environmental Risk Assessment project, etc.).

Dr. Xuan-Thanh Bui obtained a degree of engineer in chemical engineering from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh (VNU-HCM) and received his M.Eng and PhD degrees in environmental engineering at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. Currently, he is an associate professor at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources, HCMUT, VNU-HCM. He is chairman of the Dept. of Water Science & Technology and Head of VNU-HCM Key Laboratory of Advanced Waste Treatment Technology. His research focuses on membrane separation processes, water and waste treatment technologies, biological waste treatment, algae processes, green technologies and environmental materials.
He has published ~ 220 SCIE journal papers, 5 books, 36 book chapters and 02 US patents. Additionally, he has played the role of project investigator of more than 60 international/national research projects in the field and organised three international conferences. He is a member of the scientific committee in the field of earth sciences and environment and in the field of Applied Sciences of National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED), Ministry of Science and Technology, Viet Nam and the country representative of International Bioprocess Association, France.
Dr. Nguyen Thi An Hang attained her degrees of Bachelor in Biology (1996), Master in Soil Science and Environment (1998) at VNU University of Science (VNU-HUS), and PhD in Environmental Engineering (2015) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia. She currently works as the Program Director cum Lecturer of Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering (MEE) at VNU Vietnam Japan University (VNU-VJU) in Hanoi, Vietnam. Dr. Hang’s expertise covers areas of water and wastewater treatment, soil decontamination, heavy metals pollution, biosorption, phytoremediation, constructed wetlands, biomass conversion, nutrients and energy recovery, hydrothermal carbonization (HTC), circular economy, sustainable development, etc. She is keen on developing cost-effective, applicable environmental materials and technologies.
She was presented with several awards, prizes, and certificates of merit by UTS, VJU, VNU, Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Vietnam Women's Talent Award Fund for her outstanding PhD and postdoctoral research achievements. She is the author of 2 English book-chapters, 26 ISI papers, 3 Scopus papers, 15 Conference proceeding papers. Additionally, she also acts as the Principal Investigator (PI) and a key member of numerous research projects at different levels.
